Title: Dead Time
Author: Anne Cassidy
Age of Reviewer: Mom
Favorite Character:
Rose Smith was an interesting character. I liked that she wasn't the typical empty-headed teen type, or that she unrealistically had friends despite her inclusive behavior. She's actually kind of broken because of her past (I find semi-broken people refreshing). Yet she seemed relate-able enough, and I found myself really liking her despite her flaws.
Why I liked this book:
This book comes from the UK, and being from the US I liked the references and slang that I'm not used to. I also really appreciated that the book was exceptionally clean (no cussing or sex). I enjoyed the plot because it was involved and at certain times I would had theories about characters or different developments, and many times I found myself to be completely wrong. I liked being wrong - it's no fun when things are too predictable.
Why I didn't like this book:
The storyline lagged a little bit here and there, so if you have a teen with a really short attention span this may not be for them. It just wasn't one of those books that I had to finish right away, however it did keep me interested enough to keep reading and I'll probably try the next book in the series.
